ARII 1/48 Fw-190 A-8

ARII 1/48 Fw-190 A-8

Manufacturer: ARII

Scale: 1/48

Inspiration:

I won this as a prize on a raffle during one of IIPMS chapter meetings. I'd been impressed with the design of the aircraft and the engineering behind it (the cowl, especially), so it was nice to have a model of it.

Process:

This kit is stock - used all of the included decals. Airbrushed with the acrylics below, other than a few handpainted details. I dipped the canopy in Future to brighten it up. I drybrushed some oil, exhaust, gun smoke, and grass on the aircraft. I went a little further with this model kit and painted the pilot figure, adding some grassy field detail to his base.

Verdict:

Being an older model kit, there were some fit issues along with some "flash" (or excess plastic from the injection molding process). The landing gear could have been a bit more secure also. I learned alot building this model and I will take the lessons I learned into my next model.

The pictures above were taken with a Canon 6D Camera, with a Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 lens and/or Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro lens. All pictures were post-processed using ON1 Photo RAW 2020

Keep Building my Friends!
